Asbestos Management Surveys
Any building constructed before 2000 should have an Asbestos Management Survey. A comprehensive Type 2 Asbestos Survey is also valid if the asbestos survey was carried out before the introduction of HSG264 in 2010.
HBI are UKAS Accredited to undertake Asbestos Management Surveys to the standards set in HSG 264 (Asbestos: The survey guide 2010). We have a large team of asbestos surveyors who have experience surveying all building types.
HBI are also UKAS accredited to complete the Priority Assessment Scoring of Asbestos, which allows full risk assessment of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). This Risk Assessment of ACMs is included in all HBI Asbestos Management Surveys.
If you do not have an adequate Asbestos Management Survey (or pre-2010 Type 2 Survey) or if you have concerns that the Asbestos Register is not up-to-date, then you will need a Asbestos Management Survey.
Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys
As the name suggests, an Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey is required prior to any refurbishment or demolition of pre-2000 buildings.
Before 2010, this survey type known as a Type 3 Asbestos Survey.
Any works that are likely to intrusively disturb the building fabric must have had an Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey conducted beforehand.
HBI are fully UKAS accredited to undertake Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys in all building types.
If you are conducting any refurbishment (or demolition) or have any doubts whether the Asbestos Management Survey will cover areas for which work is being undertaken, then please contact us.
Asbestos Condition Checks
Often referred to as ‘Asbestos Re-Inspection’, there is a requirement under The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR 2012) to regularly assess the condition of any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) that remain in your buildings.
HBI provide an efficient and cost-effective Asbestos Condition Checking service, using a risk-based approach to inspection frequency. Our Asbestos Condition Checking Service includes the recommendations and methods described in HSG 227 -A comprehensive guide to Managing Asbestos in premises 2002.
HBI can provide Asbestos Condition Check reports or provide updates to a clients’ existing Asbestos Register as required.

Asbestos Awareness Training
The HSE predicts that widening the number of individuals with Asbestos Awareness Training will significantly reduce incidents where people are unknowingly or accidentally exposed to asbestos while working in buildings.
It is essential that organizations provide Asbestos Awareness training to those working on the fabric of buildings such as in-house or visiting Maintenance Teams but also that those managing buildings such as Duty Holders and Project Managers are aware of their obligations under the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR 2012).
HBI have delivered half-day Asbestos Awareness Training courses to 1000’s of individuals across a wide variety of building management & maintenance roles. Contact us for more information on our training courses.
