Ventilation System Cleanliness Inspections

The cleanliness of ductwork, whether it be for ventilation systems or kitchen extracts, may be important to the wellbeing of building occupants.

There is a requirement under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations to ensure that ventilation systems are kept clean and free from anything that may contaminate the air.

Kitchen extracts are likely to become contaminated with grease over time and may pose a fire risk.

Ductwork cleanliness can be assessed using the procedures detailed in B&ESA Guide to Good Practice – Internal Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems (TR19) and BS EN 15780 Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems.

Ductwork cleaning companies often offer free cleanliness assessments but, as ductwork-cleaning costs are likely to be significant, HBI can provide you an independent and unbiased assessment of need.
