New Legionella Guidelines announced for Republic of Ireland 01/10/2009 New Legionella StandardsNew Legionella Guidelines announced within the Republic of Ireland are set to tighten up the control and monitoring standards.

The new Legionella Guidelines announced within the Republic of Ireland are set to tighten up the control and monitoring standards for organisations and building owners. Adrian Byrne, Managing Director of Healthy Buildings International, who sits on a Legionella Control Association sub-committee, welcomes the new guidelines.

He explained, "These guidelines are a step in the right direction towards improving the quality of control and monitoring of Legionella bacteria. We are aware that Ireland as a whole, lags behind the UK in the levels of enforcement and prosecutions. However, it is only a matter of time before we have to catch up, so we welcome these guidelines that will help us educate organisations in their responsibilities towards their staff, customers and visitors."

To support organisations in understanding their role and responsibilities under these new guidelines, HBI are running a series of roadshows. If you would like to attend a roadshow, please register your interest at sales@hbi.ie or call 01 862 3794.
