Environmental Management Systems and Plans
HBI can provide environmental management services across the all elements of your projects planning, design, construction, commissioning and operational phases. We have substantial experience in the development of environmental management systems, construction and operational management plans, or post construction or commissioning management plans.
HBI can help you to develop useful, practical management systems including tailored assurance procedures to deliver the requirements of environmental or planning permits – for example, assurance with environmental protection licenses. HBI can also assist you to achieve ISO 14000 certification.
Half the battle of implementing these systems and plans is delivering appropriately targeted environmental awareness training to system users. HBI can develop a course that covers the essential aspects without wasting valuable employee time and resources.
Our Principal Environmental Engineer has specialist experience in this area and has substantial involvement in the following completed projects.
-
assessment of the current environmental management systems operating at Railcorp and development of an Environmental Management System Framework. The project examined three independent systems (historically operated by Rail Access Corporation, State Rail Authority, and Rail Services Australia) and collated aspects of each currently being employed by Railcorp. An environmental; management system development plan was then prepared detailing the tasks required to successfully integrate and adopt a singular management system.
-
development of a licence assurance process for Railcorp to assist this organisation to manage risks associated with potential regulatory non-compliance. A systematic robust process was developed, in consultation with key stakeholders, which could be applied across a range of different functional business units in Railcorp. A key requirement of this system was to ensure that sufficient accurate information was available concerning potential or actual non-compliances so that Annual Reports required by the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation could be completed in a timely and technically correct manner.
-
the preparation of vegetation/landscape management, soil and water management, and noise management plans for the upgrade of Patrick Stevedores Port Botany facility. Ongoing aspects include environmental monitoring, community consultation and regulatory reporting for licence compliance/variations.
